What to do right now
- Find the crown or the filling fragment if you can. A crown in good shape is frequently re-cemented. Put it somewhere it won't go through the wash.
- Don't glue anything. Household adhesives are toxic in the mouth and can ruin a crown that was otherwise salvageable. Drugstore dental cement is acceptable as a strictly temporary measure.
- Keep the tooth clean and unworked. Chew on the other side, brush gently, and rinse after eating so food doesn't pack into the opening.

How long can I wait with a lost filling?
